Last month I attended a Zoom call for Coldwell Banker Island Properties hosted by Todd Conklin, Principle Broker for Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties, located in Grand Junction, CO. Todd shared his vast menu of strategies for team building, Realtor® growth, marketing, and in general, an awesome outlook on life. (I was private chatting with him throughout the hour long call. I knew he was a very strong Christian by the way he spoke. And everything he shared rang true to me!)
After the call, I reached out to him. This turned into a phone chat. In additional to talking about real estate, I mentioned that I was the author of a book, My Year In A Yurt, God’s Hope & Healing In A Tiny House Lifestyle. He loved hearing about my journey from Southern California to a vintage yurt on the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. The next thing I knew, he was inviting me to be a guest speaker at an upcoming Focus Friday Zoom call with his brokers and agents! Over 100 of them! He felt I had lots to share about my journey as well as becoming a Realtor® in Hawaii. Of course I said “Yes.”
Aside from typical, and slightly frustrating, technical issues due to living off-grid, as well as the fact that I had to be ready to go by 5:00 am Hawaii time, 9:00 am Mountain time, it was an amazing experience. No one jumped off due to boredom. And, I gave away one of my books! It was well worth the time and early morning wake-up. It is so encouraging to discover that what I have experienced and learned can be interesting and motivating to others.
